Rob's Birthday

As I said Friday, we celebrated Rob's birthday this weekend!
It's so hard for me to believe that we've been celebrating birthdays together for 10 years now...just crazy! There's no one else I'd rather grown old with though :)
Rob is everything I imagined my husband would be and MORE. I feel immensely blessed every day by him and by the life we share...even on the days we drive each other bananas. There are so many good things to say about this guy; he's filled with wonderful traits: he's dedicated, he's passionate, he's silly, he's nurturing, he's strong, he's a hard worker, and he loves God and his family like crazy.
Oh, and he's pretty easy on the eyes, too ;)

Rob's twin brother, Will, was passing through town on their big day, so he stopped in for a few hours to hang out and see Jaqs. We went to the park, and I made a complete picnic to have while we were there. Of course, there was something in the air, and these brothers have awful allergies, so both of them became miserable after only an hour or so of being there.
I felt terrible for them, so we packed up and brought our picnic home where they proceeded to go through a box of Kleenex in record time. Poor guys.
We still had fun playing for a bit, and Jaqs was loving having daddy and "Wheel" around!

We put the little one down for her nap, Will went on to his destination, and I got dinner prepped for our wild and crazy evening in ;)
I love J in this picture...she had just woken up :)
I made some favorites for Rob's dinner: beef filets, PW's crash hot potatoes, roasted asparagus, and jalapeno poppers! Mmmm. Ended with chocolate cake, of course!
We didn't do anything super exciting and fancy, but we spent the day just how the birthday boy wanted to, (minus the allergies) and he said it was perfect, so what else matters?

Rob left town for the week super early Sunday morning, so the little lady and I were on our own for the day. It was SO WINDY, but we went to the park again, and had so much fun. I'm so thankful that we can be outside in the middle of "winter." I was stir-crazy after just a couple of weeks inside. We are Texas girls through & through ;)
Thankfully, my dad is coming in today to spend the week with his girls and substitute in Rob's absence!

Can I ask for a favor?? :) Will you go to Leah's FB page and like/comment on Jaqs' picture in her Simply Made With Love shirt?? The picture with the most likes & comments gets THREE free shirts, and you know I'm all about that!! PLEASE and THANK YOU! :)

Hope you have a great Monday!

a belated weekend post...

Hey y'all! I've been feeling behind all week, so it's only fitting that my weekend rehash is a little late as well. Hopefully I can get it in gear the 2nd half of the week ;)

Friday -- I begged asked my parents to come in to celebrate my mom's birthday that was Sunday, and they obliged...it's not terribly difficult to talk them into coming to see their grand-girl! Rob was home that night for the last Friday this fall, so we did our best to keep Jaqs entertained so she could stay up to see Grammie & GP! They pulled in just before 9 p.m., and it was definitely worth the wait. Jaqs was so excited to see them!

Saturday -- The Wildcats scrimmaged that morning, so I went to torture myself by running bleachers first, then got to watch the boys debut their hard work this summer. Rob has a good feeling about this season, and so do I! They looked really good.

Once I got home, we took J to the little water-park for a little bit, but she was SO TIRED from staying up "late" the night before, so we didn't last long. We came home for lunch, then my mom & I went out for some errands and left GP to babysit during nap. Well, wouldn't you know that the babe took nearly a FOUR HOUR nap for him after napping terribly for me all last week? That's how it goes, isn't it? I never knew kids started showing off so young for their grandparents ;)
Rob got home Saturday evening, and we all went out to dinner to celebrate both my mom's and my birthdays, then we went to the playground for some after dinner fun!
I think Rob & my dad had the most fun. They were like a couple of little boys on the playground! So funny. Jaqs loved it, too, though!
We came home for presents, cookies, and ice cream after that....perrrrfect combo!

Sunday -- My parents had to leave, of course, and we spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the hubby's last day off together. The girl took another good nap, so we had a lot of time to relax & be lazy...it was nice!

That evening I went to our head coach's wife, Roxanne's, house for our annual wives party. As always, it was so much fun! It's a great way to kick-off the season for us girls. This year, Roxy lead us through a guided paint, and I think it's safe to say we all had a good time with that! I don't have much (okay, ANY) artistic ability, and I was happy with how my beach scene turned out! I hope she'll do this one again ;)
Roxy also served us dinner & dessert, so it was just the perfect girls' night!

Thanks so much, Roxanne!!

I hope your week is off to a great start! Word on the street is that there's a GOLDEN giveaway coming to Perfectly Us beginning tomorrow ;) Don't miss it!!

28!

My handsome hubby and baby-daddy is 28 today!
It's hard to believe that we've been celebrating a decade's worth of birthdays together now, but I can honestly say that you're just getting better with age, babe. Just when I think I couldn't love you any more, you do or say something that makes me admire you even more than I already did. You are my constant, my rock...you never doubt me, and you have a way of making me believe in myself when I don't really feel like I should.
You are the hardest working man I know, and I'm so grateful to you for giving me a life I love by providing me the opportunity to stay home with our girl. You also happen to be THE BEST dad I could ever want for my baby. I knew you would be great, but Jaqs is so lucky to have such an involved, hands-on daddy, and I know the two of you will have the most special relationship; I'm excited to see it evolve!
Basically, YOU ROCK. Thank you for giving us your best, always. I'm incredibly blessed to be able to "do life" with you. The Lord richly blessed me when he gave me you.

Happy birthday, my love!! XOXO

a quarter of a century

We had such a fun weekend! Grammie was here to hang out with her girls because my birthday was Sunday. Unfortunately G-Pop had to work so he couldn't party with us. We woke up to a happy baby girl on Saturday morning! She is so smiley ALL the time, but the mornings are especially precious. We had some errands to run, so we got the girl dressed and headed out the door. But not without taking a handful of pictures first...
Her cuteness is too much to bear sometimes...I mean, look at her!
Maybe I'm partial. Maybe.
When we got home my brother and sister-in-law arrived, so we had lunch and just hung out while Jaqs was napping. Rob got off work mid-afternoon, so after baby got up we went to Waco for dinner at one of my favorites!

those sugar cheeks are irresistible

My wonderful mama treated us to Pei Wei....YUMMY. Can't go wrong!
After dinner, we came back home for a gluten free Texas sheet cake...oh my goodness! It was delicious. Of course, anything with excessive butter is bound to be good, right?
I also got some awesome presents...woohoo! Birthday gifts are always fun.
Sunday was my actual birthday, so we had a big breakfast at home and enjoyed some more time together. Rob had to leave for work around lunchtime, so Grammie hung out with us for a bit longer before she had to leave.
That evening my lovely girlfriends took me to dinner since all our guys were working! It was so much fun, and with 6 littles it was one lively party! :) Wouldn't have it any other way! Jaqs was taking herself a little catnap when we arrived, so she got to be the center of attention when she woke up. I thought this picture was too cute to pass up!
J baby was excited to see daddy when he got off after dinner!
It's funny how 25 used to seem so 'mature' to me, and now here I am. I guess I'm a full blown grown up, huh? ;) I think this will be one awesome year! My number one birthday wish came true in my girl, so I just don't see how this year couldn't be a success!

Thank you to my wonderful family and friends for making my birthday such a fun day! And thank you all for the facebook messages, texts, tweets, etc.
I definitely felt the love.

CHEERS to 25!

TGIF

It's Friday!! Woohoo! Here's to hoping this Friday the 13th isn't cursed...

My brain hasn't been working in post-forming mode this week, so I give you...a list!

On Wednesday we celebrated Rob's 27th birthday! We went to dinner with some friends and had cake and ice cream at home. It was very low key, but I think he enjoyed it. I intended to do a birthday post all week, but like I said before, it just wasn't happening. The hubs knows how I feel about him and how grateful I am for him, so that's really all that matters, right? That's not to say I won't do a sappy First Father's Day post come June! Oh, my heart skips a beat just thinking about him being a daddy.
Especially a girl-daddy :)
My first friend in Temple, Kendra, has 3 adorable little girls, so you can imagine all the clothes they've gone through over the years. Well, she decided she was ready to get rid of all the old stuff, but first she let me go through it. I came home with THREE of those big storage bins full of clothes NB-3T! Jackpot!! I've been doing a lot of teensy laundry the last couple of days to get the NB-12 months clothes ready for Jaqs. (I don't want to be frantically doing laundry the week before she comes, so I decided to do it as it comes in instead.) She already had some things in there from Grammie and other various family members/friends, so it looks like this little girl is going to be in good shape when it comes to her wardrobe!
If you follow me on the twit (@kgalu) you already know I've been craving some Red Robin fries somethin' fierce! It's a good thing we don't have one here, or I'd be a regular there for the fries and campfire sauce alone. Yum. No one else compares. Luckily I already know that and haven't been eating fries from every other restaurant ;)

This bar in no way compensates for french fries, but they are GOOD! Love 'em. It's nice when you can SEE all the ingredients in the food you're eating.
And just for kicks, here's my mirror pic rendition of the 27-week bump:
I was feeling especially pregnant this day, so I took a picture to see if I grew over night or something. I think it was just the top I was wearing ;) BUT on this same day Rob did say to me, "I don't know how you're going to keep her in there for 3 more months!" Haha, thanks honey. You ain't seen nothin' yet!

I hope y'all get to enjoy a 3-day weekend, too! This is our first weekend at home in quite some time, so I'm looking forward to getting some things done around the house, spending some QT with the hubs, and we're also having Lexi's bachelorette party Saturday night! Fun ahead!

getting my act together.

Holy cow! I don't know how this happened, but I took a serious (unintentional) blogging break. You know when you know you need to do something, but then you don't do it, so instead, you just keep putting it off some more? Yeah, that's probably what happened. I've had a couple people (Hi Kai & Stacy!) asking where I've been, so I've decided it's time to catch up!

I don't really know where to start, so I'm just going to start with where I left off!
Mom's birthday weekend in the big T :)
We just had a family weekend at our house to celebrate one of our FAVORITE people!
I got crafty and made a little birthday banner...
We had a delish dinner then opened presents!
She got just about everything she wished for, I'd say ;-)

My SIL made mom the sweetest book to commemorate her first 50 years. It is filled with pictures from past and present and is just so sweet and sentimental.
My mom was so touched, it's something she'll treasure forever!

We topped off the night with a DELICIOUS gluten-free cake made by Nicole's mom!
Jennifer, it was AWESOME! Thank you so much for being so considerate.
FIFTY & FAB was the theme of the weekend! That she is!
On Saturday the boys golfed while the girls lunched, shopped and napped.
It was a GREAT weekend!
Couldn't love my awesome family any more. Y'all rock!!

Back soon...pinky promise.
