girly weekend

I had the best weekend! Jaqs & I had our first baby shower in mine & Rob's hometown of Abilene. Rob couldn't make the trip due to track, so my friends Cassi & Vanessa came with me. Ahh, a girls' weekend was just what the doctor ordered...for all of us!
We arrived at my parents' house Friday to bed treats, of course :) Always fun.
I hadn't seen my dad since before V-day, but he had a late Valentine for me, too! A heart charm for my Pandora bracelet...so thoughtful and made me so happy!!
My parents took us out to eat that night, then we just relaxed and stayed up way too late eating cookies and girl-talking. Felt like we were in high school again!
The baby shower was Saturday morning....ohhh, it was perfect! More on that to come.
We went shopping that afternoon and had more fun that night!
It was such a GREAT weekend spent with awesome friends.
Thanks mom & dad for being the best hosts ever!
And thank YOU Cassi & Ness for going with me :) Let's do it again!

workin' for the weekend

Ever feel like that's all you're doing during the week? I know I do. I hate that feeling, really, because I don't want to wish my life away, but the weekends are just so much more fun than the weekdays! Especially when we have fun plans to look forward to like visiting these two:
It was our bi-week last week, and we took FULL advantage of the fact that Rob had Friday evening and all day Saturday off. After all, a day off only happens once during the months of August-November/December. We decided to head south to San Antonio to visit Kenneth and Nicole, shop a little and eat our favorite foods.
When we got there Friday night we headed straight for Jason's Deli (we've missed it) then to the house where my awesome SIL had freshly baked GF cookies waiting for me us.
We just hung out that night and went to bed pretty early. Saturday, the boys floated the river while the girls shopped. I had one successful morning of shopping...got the barstools I've been wanting, maid shoes for Lexi's wedding, and some seriously yummy smelling fall candles from Bath & Body Works.
That night we ate at my FAV restaurant...P.F. Chang's, of course! If you know me, you know how much I love that place. Safe to say baby G agrees with his/her mama on this one!
Unfortunately, we had to come back to reality Sunday morning. But it was alright because I had Sunday plans to keep me busy! After a yummy lunch with friends, I came home and got to work. Usually I'm SO lazy on Sundays, but this one was different.
I was bit by the productivity bug and didn't sit down until that night.
Got the house picked up/cleaned and worked on a few different crafts.
Here are the new barstools:
Love them! And really love having 5 additional places for guests to sit.
The picture on the right is a collage frame I've had sitting empty since we got married. I saw this idea on Pinterest and knew I had to copy it, so I cut out some scrapbook paper in the colors of our laundry room, hung it up and voila! Weekly calendar on the way out the door! Perfect!
And the easiest thing ever to do.

Hopefully this weekend will be lots of fun too!
Hint, Hint....MOM :)

Thanks KB & Nicole for everything! Our "welcome" gift was the sweetest, and we loved getting to spend some time with y'all...it's ALWAYS fun with you! Love you both!!

old soul

I think it's safe to say that I've always been an "old soul."
As a little girl, I always thought I was so grown up, and I suppose I kind of was...
My parents let me cook on my own somewhere around 3rd grade (seems crazy to me now?!), I penny-pinched every birthday check I ever received, and I had a full time babysitting job by age 12. What can I say, I loved (still do;)) to be in charge! This all makes me laugh looking back now, but I'm definitely still an old soul. On any given day spent at home, you could find me watching all sorts of game shows. I love them. I think I got this trait from my grandma. She's a game show fanatic...she just giggles the whole time she watches them :) Among my favorites are...

Deal or No Deal
I used to watch this with my family when it first came out, and now I find myself watching reruns on GSN. It amazes me how far people take it, though! I'd probably go home with not as much as I could because I'm no risk taker! But hey, it'd be more than I came with, right?!
 Lingo
I've just started watching this words game show! It's so entertaining. I don't really know why; it just is. I had never even heard of it until a few weeks ago. I probably wouldn't be very good at this game, and you can't win much, but still fun to watch.
 The Newlywed Game
I have ALWAYS loved this show. I can remember watching this and The Dating Game back-to-back before The Price Is Right as a little girl. Of course, back then I had no idea what Bob Eubanks was referring to when he said "whoopie." Oy. Nevertheless, the show has always made me laugh! I wonder how good Rob and I would be at it??
 The Price is Right
Another oldy-but-goody. I liked it better with Bob, but whatevs. My grandma always says she loves the show because the contestants are SO happy, and it's true! They are. Maybe even sometimes overly excitable...new luggage??!! Best day EVER!!! Not.
Who am I kidding, I need new luggage in the worst way...I'd be thrilled too.
Wheel of Fortune
My favorite game show! If I could be on any show, this would be it!
I'm definitely one of those people yelling at the TV when I watch this. Once again, the risk-takers...they stress me ;-) Not only is this my "dream" game show, but also my dream job. I want to be Vanna when I grow up. Hello...a new gown EVERY day, traveling all over, getting your hair done every day?! No brainer. Sounds ideal to me.

Do you love game shows too?? What's your favorite?

weekend fun!

We had such a fun weekend, and I have no pictures to prove it. What a shame!
Friday night, Rob and I had a little date night...probably our last Friday night date night until December! 2-a-days started today, so that means we are back in full-swing with football! Even though it's always a bummer to let go of the hubs, we are SO excited for this season! I know it's going to be awesome, and I cannot wait for Friday Night Lights to return!
GO WILDCATS!!!!
Anyway, back to date-night....we just grabbed some dinner, tried to go to a movie but didn't want to wait for 3 hours for it to start, so we ended up back at home watching Shark Week.
Romantic, isn't it? We get wild, y'all.
Here's our poor attempt of a self-portrait...iPhone pics are all I got this weekend.
Around 10 o'clock, we had an EXCITING delivery made to our door-step. The Dunnam's ventured over to Ikea that night, so I asked Cassi to pick up the Mongstad mirror for me. She, of course, delivered. That's right...my birthday wish came early!
This mega-mirror is now residing in our bedroom, and I love it. So happy I got it!
Saturday night was the season kick-off party at the Spradlin's house! We had tons of yummy food and homemade ice-cream. It was so much fun to meet everyone, and I'm already looking forward to the c-wife party this coming Saturday :) Here's last year's recap if you're new to the blog. Roxanne out-does herself with the coaches wives party every year...makes us all feel special, loved, and appreciated! It's something we always look forward to, and while I'll miss all the "Cougar wives" this year, I know we'll form new friendships and just have a blast! Anyway, all this to say...I didn't take any pictures Saturday night because I was too busy talking ;) I'll try to do better next week!

Sunday morning, Rob and I tried a new church. This is our first time to have to find a church home on our own, and it's definitely strange to be away from the church we've grown up in, but it's so important to us to find a place to call home. We're looking forward to visiting several places and discovering the best fit! We know God will lead us in the right direction.

And I took a picture of my church shoes. Because I'm cool. But really, TOMS wedges are SO comfortable! If you're considering getting some, do it! I love how casual they can be.

If you made it to the end of this random, all-over-the-place post, thank you. Really.
Have an awesome Monday!

"does this river go in a circle?"

Last weekend was such a fun one! We went ahead and started it on Thursday...because it's summer, so we can do that :) We began by helping Lexi move in to her new home of Temple, TX... Woohoo! Everyone is here now!

That evening, a couple of our besties pulled into town. We were so excited to have Jerrod and Julie visit us for the weekend! We didn't take a lot of pictures (imagine that) because we were too busy catching up and having fun!
On Friday we drove down to New Braunfels to float the river...

The only proof we have that Jerrod was, in fact, at our house that weekend:

Thanks for that, Rob ;)

Silly hats are a must for river-floating. Julie kept saying we looked like Tamra from RHOOC! Hahaha...we totally do...except for all the plastic surgery.

We had a blast on the river...so much fun that we were all in bed by about 10:30 that night! Fun in the sun can wear you out. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the copious amounts of queso we ate when we got home. Nothing at all.

We got up Saturday morning and headed to Round Rock for some shopping.
The boys were thrilled! ;-)

Aaaaand that about wraps up our weekend:
food, river, lots of laughs, more food, shopping and more food.
Doesn't get any better than that, right?!

Thanks for coming to see us Carroll's... We're already looking forward to your next visit!

Idaho...Uda...nevermind...

I'm baaaack!
If you follow me on twitter, (@KGalu) then you know I've been in Idaho visiting my Gramma and family there for the past week. I went with my mom, and we had a GREAT time! The week was busy and flew by, but we were able to get some things done around my granny's home, share LOTS of laughs and eat a TON. That spells success, if you ask me!

So, here it is...our trip in a few pictures!

We visited my cousin, Lacy, and her precious blue-eyed boy! What a treat that was...catching up is always fun! It had been a long time since I had seen her last.

We did a mini-makeover in gramma's living room! Here she is, testing out her new couch...horizontally, of course!

We had a shopping day in town, and came home with a few goodies!

Two of my favorite people!

The ladies appeased me by eating at PF Chang's after our shopping day :)
I don't often get the luxury of knowing exactly what I can eat at a restaurant, so I love to go to the gluten-free-mecca any chance I get!
My favorite double-cousin, Stacy, with my momma...

By double cousin, I mean we have the same extended family on BOTH sides. Her dad is my mom's brother, and her mom is my dad's sister. Confusing, huh?
It's definitely unique, and I love it! Love her too :)

Me with my granny...she always makes me giggle!

We worked on some yard projects at gramma's one day...cleaned out flower beds, put mulch down, etc. She has the most beautiful flowers and yards. I picked fresh tulips and daffodils on a couple different days...nothing prettier than a fresh arrangement!

I told you it was gorgeous!

And here's granny styling in her new glitter TOMS! Isn't she precious?

Comfy feet are happy feet!

Of course, I probably should have taken more pictures because I don't even have everyone we visited in these, but time just flew by. Even though the week was busy, it was also so relaxing. Just being with people you love kind of has a calming effect, I think.

I can't wait to go back!
Or 'til Y'ALL come to Texas ;)
Love, love you all! So much.

Miranda!

The girls and I had a blast at Miranda Lambert on Thursday!
We decided to go big for our "last night" together and rode in style! So fun.

Our driver (thanks Mr. G!! ;)) for the evening obliged us and took a picture for us after our YUMMY steakhouse dinner.
Sheri, Vanessa, Me, Cassi, Mandi, Lexi

After dinner, we got fired up for the concert!
Don't mind the bling in my mouth.

Josh Kelley & Justin Moore were the opening acts.

It was dark in there, so all my pictures are pretty terrible,
but here's Miranda in all her glory.

Pink geetar and all!

She put on a great concert! We had so much fun singing along with every song :)

Girls~
I'm so thankful that Cooper HS brought us all together. I just know this wasn't really our last night together...we have way too much fun together to let it end here! I'm so blessed by each of you in such different ways. Thank you for your friendship, for making me laugh, letting me cry, helping me grow, and for showing me the ropes of being a c-wife! Love y'all!

the skinny

I've been trying to post this all week, but we've just had a lot going on. I even missed WILW! Oh my. I'll do better next week...hopefully!
Moving on...Friday Rob & I took our favorite little munch to the park! She had a blast going down the scummy slides, swinging & climbing!

Rob didn't slide with the ease that Natalie did, but he still had fun ;)

After our park date, we went to grab dinner and to visit Lisa & Harold, per Nat's request. She loves being with her favorite peeps! And she adores their bathtub...of course, it doesn't hurt that Lisa always has new jammies for her either!

I think it's safe to say we all had a fun night!

Saturday night was a night of celebration for Jerrod & Julie! They had a ranch themed shower given by family friends. There was even an authentic chuck-wagon meal!

I can tell you the buttermilk potatoes and beans were YUMMY.
Rob can tell you that it was ALL yummy!

Me with the bride-to-be! We are ready for June 11th!
As soon as I find some shoes, that is.

We went out after the party and got a serious kick out of people watching. It was a little ridiculous but provided us with a lot of laughs!

Sunday was the big house-hunting day. Oy. Stress.
Unfortunately, we didn't find the one...we are going back for round two this weekend, so hopefully we will have better luck and fall in love!

I think the problem is that I find our current home so perfect for us right now. Not to mention, we JUST bought it in December, so I'm not really "ready" to part with it. But I have to. We're moving, and that's not changing.

The reason we're moving is for Rob's job. The HC he was working for at Cooper is now the HC at Temple High School, and he asked Rob to join them in rebuilding the Wildcats! Rob is honored and READY to take on the challenge.
To be honest, I wasn't thrilled about the idea of moving at first. I've lived in Abilene forever...it's comfortable, our families are here, we know this place. I've since gotten excited about the move, though. I know it will be good for us. We'll experience new things, further our goals in life and have the chance to be "us". PLUS we're going to be there with some amazing friends! I know that any time I'm missing my family, they will fill my little heart with love and comfort me! What a blessing that will be.

a jean story & the weekend

Hello friends - hope y'all had a wonderful weekend! The Galusha's sure did!

We started things off on Friday evening with our newest hobby...riding bikes! It was so much fun...I love being active and enjoying the outdoors with my hubby. We then headed out to dinner with Jerrod and Julie! We always have so much fun with them...lots of laughs were had by all!

On Saturday morning I helped my mom and Lisa put on a bridal shower for a family friend's soon to be daughter-in-law! She had a great party, and it was fun to see people I hadn't seen in awhile.
After the shower, our usual Saturday ritual commenced...lunch and shopping! I really don't know how we have SOMETHING to shop or look for every Saturday, but one of the three of us always has a mission.
This week it was me.
Remember how I was wanting some white jeans? Well, it turned out to be the biggest ordeal! Most stores do indeed have white jeans, but all of them are skinnies, and they were just not looking good on me! I decided I wanted a flared leg, but the only ones I could find were more than I was wanting to spend. I finally found some I LOVED at Express, so I just bit the bullet and spent the money. I couldn't save pictures from their site, so if you're curious, I got THESE. Well, wouldn't ya know they had a buy one get one 50% off sale? So, I practically HAD to get THESE as well. I'm very happy with both of my purchases!

Whew! Moving right along...
Saturday night was another fun night spent with friends! We enjoyed a yummy dinner then went to listen to live music and to just be together. We're so blessed to have such great friends!

The boys...all football, all the time. We love 'em!

Sunday was Julie's first bridal shower! Yippee!! Their wedding is coming up so fast, and we are SO ecstatic to be a part of it all!
Jerrod came towards the end to load and take their loot home...little did he know he was going to get in on the gift-opening action! Not sure he loved that ;)

Julie & I post-presents...we were a little sweaty! It's hard work, yanno!

Now with another maid & lifetime friend of Julie's - Dakota. She was the gift "charter" as the boys called it. HA!

They incurred quite the loot, didn't they?

Their kitchen is now well-stocked!

Rob came to help Jerrod take things to their house, so they had a little snack before they went to work. It's pretty comedic to see a couple of "manly-men" eating girl food!

Sunday evenings are almost always spent at my parents' house, and this one was no different. It's such a perfect way to wrap up the weekend and get ready for the week ahead! I'm loving that it's so warm now because that means grilling and rocking on their back porch...

I love it!
