weekend & a discount!

Happy (??) Monday, y'all! How was your weekend? As usual, ours flew right by.
Thursday was kind of a rough day around these parts, so I decided Friday was going to start off on the RIGHT foot, so once we were up and moving, the little lady and I headed straight to Starbucks for an iced PSL & Target. If only every day could start that way!
I must say, Jaqs was looking mighty grown up in her leopard jeggings. How do you think I would look in a matching pair?? ;) HA!
The football game was out of town this week, so another one of the coach's wives and her littles came over to have dinner, play & listen to the game. It was so fun, but unfortunately the Cats lost at the very last minute. Such a bummer!

Jaqs and I headed to the splash pad with the same momma & kiddos on Saturday morning since the guys were working (yeah--got home at 1:45 a.m. & back to work at 6:30 a.m!) to try to stay cool in the blazin' temps. She thought she was pretty big stuff going up and down the slide all by herself!
We came home for lunch & the girl took an awesome nap! I mean, check out this bed-head:
I guess sleeping for 3.5 hours will do that to ya! Now, let's do that every day, okay??

Saturday night Rob took his girls out for a family date night. We avoid any place that requires waiting a long time for food in the season of life, so we went to Chipotle where these two made googly eyes at each other the whole time :)
I mean, SERIOUSLY?! There is nothing better. Jaqs doesn't let her daddy out of her sight when he's home and gives him the sweetest hugs and kisses! Precious girl.

We also went for frozen yogurt and there was a little summer thunderstorm while we were there. We were playing outside when we got home and spotted a double rainbow! Of course, this iPhone picture is not the best, but my goodness, is God not SO GOOD? Wow.
Sunday morning was low-key, just playing with daddy until he had to head back to the office. It's always so hard to let him go on Sundays, but we know he has a job to do!

Now we'll look forward to the next!

first haircut, father's day & other ramblings

Monday, Schmonday....here we are again! I've got nothing to complain about though because 1.) It's SUMMER. 2.) We're going to the beach this week! Woooohoo! I wanted to pop in and post a little update before we leave though :) We had a fun weekend in Abilene with our families!

--I had a hair appointment Saturday to get some fresh highlights, so Jaqs came along and got her first trim, too! I really didn't know how it was going to go, but she was such a good girl!! She just sat on my lap and munched away on her graham cracker. I was very proud of her, and her hair looks so cute! She, of course, didn't need much of a cut, just enough to get the scraggly ends off...it looks so cute! I've been going to Holly since I was TWELVE! She's the best!
--Baby girl has had a blast playing in Grammie & G-Pop's backyard. She mastered climbing up the steps and sliding down her slide on her own...such a big girl! I think she'll be outside most of the time we're away :)
--We celebrated our favorite guys Saturday evening when both mine & Rob's grandparents could join us and had a great time! Yummy food, gifts for our favorite guys, and quality time spent...that's what it's all about!

--We continued on celebrating Rob & my dad Sunday, and just had a fun day spent together.  I'm so thankful for these two and the dads (and now grandpas) they are. Jaqs and I are lucky girls to have them!
--Jaqs made her first foot craft for part of G-Pop's gift, and I think it's safe to say it might have been one of his favorite gifts ;) There's not much sweeter than baby feets!
--We had to do it big because G-Pop will have Jaqs by himself for the first couple days we're gone. How many grandpas do you know willing to do that? I think it's pretty great!
--I also want to wish my big brother the happiest of birthdays today! He became a daddy just a few weeks ago, and he's already rocking at it, but that's no surprise! I look up to him in so many ways...one of my very favorite people! He keeps us laughing, is one of the smartest people I know, and he rarely gets his feathers ruffled. He loves all of us unconditionally, and has always been a source of encouragement for me.
I love you, KB!!

--I've got a few guest posts scheduled for this week, so I hope you'll check those out and show some love for the awesome mama's posting on my behalf! I'm so excited to do this for the first time!

--Hope you all have a wonderful week, and I'll see ya next week! Don't worry...I'll soak up some sun for you ;) Can't wait to park my hiney on the beach with my hubby and our besties!

SIL's birthday weekend!

This weekend started off on a sour note with a tough Wildcat loss, but thankfully it only went up from there. My side of the family all came to celebrate my SIL's birthday!
My brother and I went to the game together on Friday while the GGs babysat Jaqsy girl, so it was fun to get some time in with him :) We always share a lot of laughs!

Saturday morning was mostly lazy until us girls ran around a bit. A cold front came through, so we actually got to wear fall clothes! It was wonderful; Jaqs & I were excited!
My mom and I came home and got things ready for Nicole's birthday dinner!
jumperoo is a nice touch, no?
We had a delish steak dinner with all the sides then Nicole opened her gifts. I made her a yarn wreath and a little canvas with their dating/engagement/wedding dates in additional to a couple other things that weren't homemade. Ha!
We also played some games...Jaqsy girl was even there! See her? ;)
Our big girl decided to top off the weekend by sitting up on her own! It didn't last too long before she fell over, but STILL! She's growing up too fast already.

Hope you have the happiest of birthdays, Nicole! We love you!

family weekend

Guess what! Grammie and G-Pop were here again this last weekend :)
Their visits never get old, and we're so thankful they can come so often!
They came in Friday afternoon, so they took over bath and bedtime so I could go to the game. The Wildcats won their district opener 69-37! Whoooooop!
Jaqsy girl still has not been to a game, and to be honest, I'm not sure if it's going to happen this season. She goes to bed between 7:30 & 8, and I'm just not sure if I'm willing to keep her up so late since she's not really a 'fall asleep anywhere' kinda girl. Next year!

Do you think this little angel is loved and adored or what?! She loves her G&G so very much. The feeling is definitely mutual :) She lights up all of our lives!
One of my long-time friends, Kasey, was in Temple this weekend also, so she came over for a couple hours on Saturday to visit and meet Jaqs! It's always fun to catch-up with old friends. Thanks so much for taking the time to come see us, Kasey!
The rest of Saturday was spent shopping (surprise) with my mom, Cassi, and Lyssa! It was definitely some fun girl time! So much fun that we decided to all have dinner together, too. We went home to round up the troops then met up at our favorite Mexican food place. Delish!

We spent Sunday morning relaxing and playing with the munchie until it was time for G&G to head back home. Not for long though, we'll all be together again this weekend to celebrate my SIL's birthday! Looking forward to it!
Jaqs was somber when her playmates left ;)

Our week is off to a good start, too! It rained for most of the weekend, PRAISE THE LORD! We have needed it desperately! With the rain came cool temperatures, so it's gorgeous outside. Jaqs and I will definitely be taking morning/evening walks this week. Let's hope this 80 degree weather stays awhile...it makes life even sweeter!

the weekend: GPop, victory & fun

On Friday morning my awesome dad (G-Pop) rolled into Temple to spend the weekend with his girls and only favorite son-in-law! We were so excited to see him because we weren't expecting him until that night...tricky, tricky ;)
Jaqsy girl loves her some GP!
While GP went to play a quick round of golf, Jaqs had a nap, and we went up to the high school to wish daddy good luck in the game that night and to give him kisses, of course!
cutest little cheerleader!
Visiting daddy at school is our new thing because most nights the baby girl is already in bed by the time he gets home. Life as a coaching fam!
The rest of the afternoon was spent playing and napping...
Our game that night was about 45 minutes down the road, and I figured I would go late after Jaqs took her bath and everything, but my dad insisted that I go with the girls...he could handle it! And handle it, he did: 2 hours of playing, bath, lotion, jammies, bottle & bed...what a guy!! :)
good work, GPop!
I didn't worry about a thing while I was gone because I knew Jaqsy girl was in good hands! So I got to enjoy the night with my c-wives watching our guys do what they do.
coaching 'em up
Best looking coach I've ever seen!
The Wildcats won their season opener 41-24!! Great way to kick off the 2012 season!

Saturday was pretty low key...we just hung out together, went to dinner, and spent the evening watching, what else, football! :)

We had a big breakfast on Sunday, then Rob went to work around lunch time. GPop topped off the weekend by mowing and edging the yard for us! Woohoo! We definitely appreciate that as there's not much time for such things during the season.
Thanks for everything dad! You're the best!!

Hope you're enjoying your labor day! Rob is working, but will hopefully be off by mid-afternoon, and that's a treat this time of the year! I think I'll celebrate labor day with a manicure when he gets home ;)

weekend happenings

We had a low key but fun weekend! Rob had to go out of town for the State 7 on 7 tournament Friday/Saturday, so my parents came to hang out with Jaqsy baby and me while he was gone! She waited patiently for Grammie & G-Pop ALL day... ;)
We had a fun little outing with our besties on Friday evening. This water-park is right up the road from our house, but we'd never been. It was so much fun! I think we'll be regulars next Summer when our girl will enjoy it a little more!
She made a couple trips around the lazy river with mommy, and she was pooped!
Sweet thing took a 30 minute nap on me and was ready for a little more fun. She seemed to enjoy the water, but she was not a fan of being splashed by bigger kids!
My parents arrived just in time for bath and bedtime.
Saturday's mission was to find what we needed to makeover our 'guest' bathroom. It was pretty dark in there, so I wanted to lighten it up and make it a little more kid friendly since it will eventually be Jaqs' bathroom. My mom and I were successful in finding just about everything we needed! I still need to add a few more accessories, then I'll share it. I love it!

While I was in 'DIY' mode I made a few headbands for the girl. They were so simple and took all of 5 minutes to make, so I think I'll be doing plenty more of these in different colors! I'll have to scour Pinterest to find more ideas ;)
Rob came home Saturday afternoon, so we all had dinner that night and just hung out.

Mom and I ran a couple errands on Sunday before we had lunch, then they had to go back home. That's always sad! The weekends go by WAY too fast.
Our family of 3 just spent the rest of the day hanging out and enjoying time together while we still had it. Rob is back to work now, so our days will be a little different! We'll miss him!
I picked this onesie up a few weeks ago because I knew Rob would LOVE it. That he did. So proud of his little Under Armour girl! And by the way...that's a 6-9 month onesie...WHAT?!
And on a random note, I saw this idea on Pinterest, and it works so well that I had to share it with y'all! Put poached/boiled chicken breasts in your stand mixer to shred it rather than using two forks! So smart and MUCH faster. I get those huge family sized packages of chicken, boil it all, then shred, portion, and freeze it for quick dinners during football season. It's really nice to be able to make chicken fried rice, chicken salad, enchiladas, stuffed potatoes, etc. when you're short on time.

Hope y'all had a great weekend, friends!
