Five on Friday

Hi girls! I haven't been too great at blogging lately, but you can count on me to join in for Five on Friday! Head over to Darci's blog to join the link-up fun!
{one} This week has been pretty quiet around our house. Well, as quiet as it can be with a 19 month old WILD CHILD ;) Since off-season won't start until after Thanksgiving break, Rob has been getting home around 4:30 which has been AWESOME. It's so nice having him home and reconnecting as a family rather than me just filling him in on all that's going on. I'm definitely looking forward to spending the whole week together next week and I hope the time goes reeeeeaaaaallly slooooooowwwww.

{two} It's just about time to break out the holiday wear for Jaqs, and I am way too excited about it!! Leah at Everyday Love made this adorable shirt for J, and I absolutely LOVE IT!! Check her out!
{three} I am usually a no Christmas until after Thanksgiving person, but it's going to be in the 30s this weekend, and we're breaking out the decor! I want it to be up and ready when we return home from the break so out it comes! I've been looking forward to this all week :) Here's to hoping I can keep the mini away from the tree. #yeahright #wishmeluck

{four} If you're a gluten free gal like me (or heck, even if you're not!) you have to try Pilsbury's new line of deliciousness! These cookies were sooooo yummy. There are also tubs of pie and pizza crusts. This makes my life so much easier!! The hardest part about being gluten free is convenience, so this is a step in the right direction. I can't wait to try the pie crust out next week! I got these at HEB, by the way, but surely they're in other stores, too??
{five} My mom made some white chocolate covered peppermint popcorn last weekend, and it was SO GOOD. Rob has requested to have some, too, and this recipe for Christmas Crunch looks so good! This stuff is dangerously addicting though! I could easily eat half the batch in one sitting. Oh well, tis the season, right?! ;)

You lovelies stay warm this weekend! XOXO

weekend, wedding & wildcats

I mentioned on Friday that Jaqs and I were headed home for the weekend for a close friend's wedding, and we had a wonderful time on our visit! Jaqs did SO WELL in the car (hallelujah!) and was absolutely thrilled to be at GG & Pop's house. Of course, my precious mama had bed treats waiting for both of us! She's the best. If you go stay with her, you'll get them, too!
Rob's mom came over to visit her grand-girl after her nap that afternoon, and I'm glad they got the chance to play together for a couple hours, too! That evening, my parents and I took the little lady to Chuck E Cheese for the first time. She was apprehensive about everything going on but loved wandering around looking at all the games! Of course she loved the pizza, too ;)

We put Jaqs (and Pop...ha!) to bed, then my mama and I went on a girl's date. Ah, it was so good for the soul! Love getting to spend quality one-on-one time with my mom. I hope to be everything that my mom is to me to Jaqs one day.

Saturday afternoon was the play-off game, and unfortunately we lost. It is always bittersweet when the season ends, but the Wildcats had an awesome season this year. I know Rob is proud to have been a part of this team, and we're proud of him, too! I'd be lying if I said Jaqs and I weren't happy to have more time with him again though. We've missed him around here!

Saturday evening was the main event....Laura's wedding! Laura and I have been friends since birth as our parents are best friends, and she is one of those people that will ALWAYS be close to my heart as will the rest of her family!
My little pea got all fancy for the wedding, and I must say, she looked pretty sweet!

GG & Pop clean up nice, too!

Jaqs had an absolute BLAST at the wedding! She played with the other kids, ate cupcakes, and danced the night away with Pop. She was one happy girl.
One little boy was break dancing, and Jaqs decided to try it out for herself. Crazy girl! she did this several times throughout the night and had us cracking up. Love her.
my people...love my parents!

the beautiful bride!
Congratulations Laura & Brady!
May your lifetime together be filled with many blessings & lots of love!

The rest of our weekend was spent playing and running around town. As always, we had a wonderful time at home, and we're already looking forward to going back for Thanksgiving next week! Even more excited that Rob will be joining us on the trip for the first time since August! Woohoo!

Five on Friday

Friday! I've been waiting all week for you!
Of course, I'm linking up with Darci and the other lovely ladies for another edition of Five on Friday!
{one} I'm ALL about embracing the turkey & leaving Christmas decor for AFTER Thanksgiving, but I'm dying to get my stuff out this year! I think it must have something to do with being a mom and seeing all the magic of the season in a new way. That being said, I'm definitely NOT looking forward to trying to keep Jaqs out of our tree. We don't have a baby gate, so blocking her from it is kind of out of the question. We'll see how that goes. I did pick this little felt tree up at Target, so hopefully she'll enjoy decorating and un-decorating it!
{two} Speaking of Christmas decor, I'm totally garland obsessed lately! I'm hoping some of these cuties will be part of a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale so I can make one or two of them mine!
{three} Have y'all tried the McDonald's Pumpkin Spice Latte? It may not be as good as Starbucks, but it's pretty darn close!! And half the price. I'm a fan!
{four} This ridiculous e-card makes me laugh every stinkin' time I see it. I mean, is it dead on or what?! Personally, I've not ever slapped the sh*t out of someone, but I'm not saying the thought has never crossed my mind when I get those judgey looks from others about something my child is doing ;) You moms know the ones!
{five} One of my life-long friends is getting married this weekend, so Jaqs and I are off to Abilene to celebrate with her and her husband-to-be! I'm so excited to go "home" and see everyone! We're sad that daddy can't join us, and that we have to miss our first play-off game, but we'll be cheering on the Wildcats via radio!
This picture is KILLING me, by the way. HOW was my peas so itty bitty?!? Tears.
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! XO

life lately

Well hey there! I'm getting pretty good at taking these unintentional blog breaks, aren't I? It's not even that I'm particularly busy with anything big, but as you all know, life just happens, and time flies right on by. Rather than trying to remember all the details of all that's happened in the last two weeks, I thought I'd just do a little recap to hit the highlights!

  • GG visited us a couple weeks ago which allowed me to fly solo to the football game with my girls! We love when GG comes to town!
  • We went to a birthday party at a gymnastics/cheer facility, and Jaqs had a BLAST. She absolutely loved jumping on the trampoline and playing in the ball pit!
  • My bestie, Julie, is going to be a mommy! I'm so thrilled for her and Jerrod, and I cannot wait to find out if that little bean is a boy or a girl!
  • Jaqs has turned into quite the little mama to her dolls. She is pretty good at changing their diapers and swaddling them :) Warms my heart!
  • We've had several days of rain and a few days of cold temps recently which means I've had to get creative with my outdoor loving girl. Dried beans have been a saving grace! Seriously, Jaqs plays with "beams" more than any of her toys. Sure, it makes me a little crazy to clean them up 10x a day, but hey, if it provides 20 minutes of entertainment, I'm all about it!
  • With cooler air comes cozy dinners. I've been making soups like it's my job lately. This Broccoli-Cheese Soup is DELISH, and it's full of veggies! I even added some grated zucchini for a little extra. My crew gobbled it right up.
  • Daddy and the Wildcats earned the title of Co-District CHAMPS!!! This is awesome, y'all. The season before we got here, Temple went 1-9, and this year we tied for first!! The first round of playoffs will be Saturday! Go CATS, beat Cedar Hill!!
  • Rob's grandparents and his brother came to visit us this past weekend, and we're so glad they did! Of course, Jaqs had a great time being doted on and entertaining everyone. She also got to eat McD's for the first time, and she was pretty happy about it!

I think that probably brings us up to present day, so I'll just end this here and be back tomorrow to link-up for Five on Friday! Thanks for sticking around :)

Five on Friday

Ahh, the Friday after Halloween? Any one else have a sugar hangover this morning? No? Just me? Ok. Lucky for me, I don't have to get up and be somewhere this morning or I might be in trouble!
As always, I'm linking up for Five on Friday today!
{one} Halloween. We had so much fun eating "boo"rito bowls at Chipotle & Trick-or-Treating with our buddies last night! All these babies have coaches for daddies, so we decided to spend the evening together. Jaqs, of course, doesn't really get the thrill of ringing doorbells and getting candy from strangers just yet, but she and Kersee had a grand time riding in the wagon together and eating their pretzels they got at one house.
our favorite cheerleader :)
the house on the upper right is a well-known mansion in Temple & it was CRAZY busy with kids!
Jaqs is a BIG fan of dum dums ;)
our cute kiddos!
{two} What a difference a year makes! My little baby Jaqs-O-Lantern from last year sure has grown into one adorable Wildcat cheerleader. My sweet pea, I love watching you grow!
I sure wish she still sat & smiled like this for pics!!
{three} I've been on a meal prep kick this week, and it makes my life so much easier. If you haven't tried the SkinnyTaste baked potato soup yet, you definitely need to! It's incredibly easy (and fast!) to put together, and it's not loaded with butter and cream like many other recipes.
{four} Sickies. Y'all, our house has been plagued this week. I still have been coughing all week and not resting well because of it, Jaqs has had a little cough, and now Rob is down. I don't know what's going on, but I need it to STOP! It might help if the weather made up its mind. Ready for everyone to feel better!

{five} The holiday season is upon us! Now that Halloween is over and it's now November, we'll be in full-fledged Thanksgiving and Christmas mode! I'm so excited...this is the truly the best time of the year, in my opinion. I've already started my Christmas shopping, and I'm giddy thinking about all the fun ahead for us this year! But first, November! I love this month.

Hope you have a wonderful November weekend! :)
