recently

*I don't know why this post ended up so funky looking...blogger is frustrating sometimes! I did what I could to make it normal, but it just wasn't working. Boo.*

Just wanted share a little of what we've been up to! Life has been a pretty good combination of busy yet relaxing, and this week we'll be vacationing with my family! Definitely looking forward to some fun in the sun and Jaqsy's first water experience. I hope she'll love it! If not now, I'm sure she will be a water baby by next summer :)

One morning last week, I had quite the show when I woke up. I was greeted with my usual happy morning girl, and we had a sweet little chat. Then I went to change her diaper...she sneezed a few times and we had some sort of a projectile poop thing occur.
#mommylife #keepinitreal
of course I had to let Rob know stat
It was everywhere, and I had to laugh. My how my sense of humor has changed ;)
At least I'm not sharing any pictures of the actual poo, right? Ha!

I finally got around to packing up the ol' stretchy waist maternity clothes! It's been nice being back in my regular clothes, but no one ever told me that breastfeeding kind of limits what you can wear also. Or maybe I'm just lazy. I only want to wear things with easy access, if you're pickin' up what I'm putin' down.
until next time!
Another morning last week, I looked in my girl's crib only to be greeted by Spike! Looks like Jaqsy baby was out cruisin on her motorcycle instead of sleeping  all night ;) Told y'all she had some wild hair! Love, love it.
it's a good hair day, mom!
Jaqs has started trying to parrot sounds that we make, and it cracks us up! She also tries to mimic our faces sometimes. Sweet girl, we think you're so smart!
happy face!

Grammie came to see us this weekend! We laugh because we see each other so often, but it's still never enough! Grammie and G-Pop miss this little munch when she's gone, and how could anyone blame them for that?!
reunited & it feels so good!
Us girls grocery shopped and got things prepped for vacation this week while daddy had football, then when he got home, he took over while mom and I ran around like chickens with our heads cut off. It's amazing how much you can get done when you're not lugging a car-seat and stroller in and out of the car at every stop! We missed the littlest shopper though!
shopping girl!
Baby cakes had her 2-month check-up today even though she's closer to 3! She weighed in at 11 lbs 7 oz and is 22.75 in long....50th percentile for both. The shots, of course, were SO sad, but Jaqs was a brave girl! She cried when they poked her, but was fine after daddy picked her back up and gave her a hug. She's been sleeping a lot since we've been home, but no fever! Praise the Lord for that! Hopefully we'll have our happy girl back in the morning :)
poor little baby leg!
putting our brave faces on! ;)

she get it from her momma?

Since I did a "she get it from her daddy" post,
it's only fair that I do a momma one too, right?? Right ;)

My mom saved some of my clothes from when I was a baby, so as soon as we found out our little miracle was a girl, we knew we had to get some pictures of her in them.

This is me around 3 months old:
And here's Jaqsy baby at 2 & 1/2 months:
See any similarities??

I definitely still see more of Rob in her, but I can see similarities in us too :)
I didn't have as much hair, but I had the pouf going on up top too! Haha

a daddy's love

There's truly nothing like a daddy's love for his daughter is there?
It's such a special relationship. One that definitely shapes the way a girl views love, trust, and many other values, if you ask me. A daddy is a little girl's first love!
I'm blessed with the perfect-for-me father, and I'm so very thankful for him.
my dad and me - 1988
July 5, 2008
My dad is now Jaqsy girl's G-Pop, and it is the sweetest thing! He adores her with every ounce of his being...it's quite clear for anyone to see! I think he was made for this grandpa business :)
I knew Rob was going to make an excellent dad, but he's even better than I could have ever imagined. He just bursts with pride over our little angel...
just look at the adoration!
Watching their sweet little bond makes my heart swell and my eyes go misty.
I can't imagine anything better, really. Jaqs will learn so many things from her daddy...patience, what love is, and football, of course. Most importantly her daddy will show her what to expect from men and her husband. Not that her dad will let her date...ever ;)
true love
Rob has been so hands-on from day one, and I'm grateful for the way he just jumps in. He had never changed a diaper before Jaqs, but now he's diapering, burping, swaddling, lotioning, and accessorizing like a pro. He's so great at being a girl-dad!
bedtime stories
We celebrated father's day with Rob's grandparents while we were in Abilene last weekend, and Jaqs was giving Popo the biggest grins! He loved it. So special...I'm glad I have pictures!
Unfortunately Rob lost his dad when he was just a baby, but I just know that he would be extremely proud of his son and the father that he's become.

Happy Father's Day Dad and Rob!! You both ROCK at being dad!!

she get it from her daddy?

Between Rob's coarse, kinky-curly hair and my frizz-ball, our girl inherited some wild hair! We love it. I can hardly wait to see what it turns into as she gets older!
one particularly wild day
It's usually the first thing people comment on when they see her, and I can't blame them, really. It's a daily topic of conversation around our house, too ;)

Wild-thang, you make my heart sing!

summer fun photo dump

Our summer is off to a great start!
Our family of three has spent lots of quality time together, and that's been so awesome!
We've also spent many-a-evening with our fun friends :)

Jaqs was introduced to her newest friend, Kersee...
Her parents were in Abilene with us, went to another school last year in East Texas, and now they're here in Temple! We're all so happy they're here!

We celebrated my sweet friend, Cassi's, birthday!
love these ladies!
Jaqs got some lovin' at the birthday party too...

We've spent several lazy mornings, just cuddling...
thanks rob for this one ;)
Jaqs has logged lots of hours playing with daddy!
Isn't that 'Jaqs' onesie adorable?! My precious friend, Mateya, sent it to us! Love it.

Watching mama get ready to go out to dinner with friends!
With all this summer fun, I have to say my favorite part is just having Rob here in the morning when Jaqs wakes up. She is SO happy in the mornings, and we just soak up those big, open mouth smiles and her excited shrieks. Life is pretty sweet.
These pictures make me laugh...looks like she's striking a pose!

Hope you're enjoying some summer fun, too!

2 months!

Oh Jaqsy girl! You have changed so much and discovered a lot of new things in the last month! It is so sweet to watch you grow and learn...it seems like you're a little bigger each morning when you wake up. Daddy and I can't get enough of you, baby girl! We kiss your cheeks all day every day and talk about you non-stop...we just can't help it! You're our pride and joy. God has blessed us so richly with your precious little life!

At two months old:
  • Your appetite has grown MUCH bigger over the last month. My goodness can you eat! You nurse 6-7 times a day...every 3-3 & 1/2 hours during the day with longer stretches at night. You can also suck a bottle dry in no time...we're always impressed by that ;)
  • Your sleeping has improved tremendously, and we're SO PROUD of you for that! We've been working on moving bedtime up, and you have been doing so good with it. You feed for the last time about 9:30, then you go down at 10ish. You'll usually wake up around 5 (give or take 30 minutes), nurse, and go right back to sleep until 7 or 8. I'm pretty sure that's considered sleeping through the night in baby-land...way to go, girl! Momma and Daddy feel so rested now!
  • Naps are still a work in progress, but we're starting to see a pattern develop! We've been working on this too because we know you need plenty of rest for all that growing you're doing :) We generally do the same things so there will be consistency in your day. You are so HAPPY when you wake up from naps!
  • You are still fussiest in the evenings, but this has improved A LOT! You don't cry nearly as much, and we're so thankful for that...hearing you cry is just plain sad. We usually go on walks, play on the floor, and cat-nap a little before bath and bedtime.
  • You LOVE your bath! You get so relaxed with your feet propped up on the side of the sink. You just chill like you're at the most relaxing baby spa! I'm glad you enjoy this time :) After your bath, daddy gives you a massage with lotion, and you even enjoy that now. What a lucky girl to get a massage each and every night! Your daddy is head over heels for you, little lady.
  • The paci is here to stay. You love that little soother! We still don't let you sleep with it at night, but you do have it for naps some. Sometimes you chomp on it like there's no tomorrow, and other times you stick your tongue out and don't want it at all!
  • You are one strong little girl! Your little head stays perched up just looking around all the time. You are usually not crazy about tummy time, but recently you've fallen asleep during it...that was a shock the first time it happened! We usually prepare ourselves for non-stop crying when we put you on your belly :)
  • One of your favorite things to do is lay in your crib or on your activity mat and watch the mobiles. What fun! Your little eyes just follow them around and around. You also love the lights on your activity mat...you'll watch them for the longest time! We give you 'independent' play-time each day, and it's spent in one of these two places.
  • You are constantly working your legs and arms. Daddy says you look like you're directing traffic with your arms because they move independently of each other...too funny! You push up on your legs a lot now, so we've pulled out the jumperoo! We're easing into that new toy though. I know you're not far from loving it!
  • Speaking of your active arms, we started 'forcing' (sorry--mean mommy) you to have them swaddled because they would keep you awake at night! We have to give Grammie the credit for this one. It has made a huge difference in the amount of time it takes you to fall asleep! It also works wonders during the day...if you're fussing/fighting going to sleep, we swaddle you up like a burrito and you will usually calm down.
  • You are definitely finding your voice. You make the absolute sweetest sounds my ears have ever heard. Listening to you 'talk', squeal, and scream is the best thing!
  • You smile at us all the time...another thing we can't get enough of! We'll do anything to get smiles out of you, baby girl. Your gummy grin is scrumptious!
  • You are wearing size 1 diapers, and I think you'll fit into your cloth diapers now, so we're going to give those a go soon!
  • You are wearing a variety of sizes...it just depends on the brand! You are in 0-3 month, 3 month, and even a couple 6 month outfits. I think you're truly a 0-3 month size though.
  • We don't go for your 2 month checkup until the end of the month, (dreading shots!!) but we estimate your weight to be around 11 lbs, and we think you're about 22 in long! You have really filled out and are chunking up nicely! We love your baby rolls and dimply bobo! Oh so cute.

Life is getting sweeter by the day with you, Jaqs. We love you so very much!!
