weekend lovin'

Life has felt been kind of like one big weekend lately, and it's been AWESOME. Since our time is dwindling, we've been living it up while we have the chance! This weekend was a pretty sweet combination of busy but relaxing with lots of friend and family time mixed in.
If you follow me on the Insta, (@ktgalu) these pictures are mostly repeats...sorry!

Rob was with the Wildcats at the State 7 on 7 tourney all day Friday, so Jaqs and I spent the day just the 2 of us. We had contemplated going to the games, but I ultimately decided it was way too hot (102+) for her, plus they were about 40 miles down the road from us. We opted for Target fun isntead ;) We also went to dinner with our girlfriends that night!
When we got home from dinner, it was about 7:30, and I knew Rob wasn't too far from home, so I let Jaqs play outside so they'd get the chance to see each other. She wanted in her pool, so I stripped her down, and she went for a night swim! Girl was as happy as could be!
Rob & the guys had 7 on 7 again Saturday morning, so our friends came over for a "play-date," but I use that term loosely because J was napping for all but about 30 minutes of it, and Tatum is 2 weeks old, so yeah! Ha ;) Once the daddies got home that afternoon, we went to the water park with our bigger buddies, and all the kiddos (and parents) had a blast! No pictures to prove it, though.
We had everyone over Saturday night for burgers, so these three plus Tatum (above) got to hang out all day long. We were cracking up at Jaqs & Tate sitting on the couch sharing chips. Those two are so funny together, and luckily we have Parker to keep them in line with their sharing and all those other things toddlers have trouble with!
Sunday was pretty low key...we went out for lunch to our favorite mexican food place, but that was about the extent of productivity. It poured rain most of the day, so we were pretty lazy. I even took a little nap...BLISS!

Rob only has to work half days this week before he's back on the grind next week, so we'll be taking advantage of every last second of summer we can squeeze in. It has flown by entirely too fast, and I'm not ready to give it up quite yet. Let's not talk about it, actually.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

a taste of summertime...

We got a taste of Summer this weekend, and it was nothing short of amazing! Ahh, I can't believe it's over already, but now I'm just that much more excited for a few easy weeks with my family & friends.

Rob came home with flowers Friday afternoon, so there was no way it could be bad, right? Surprise gestures to say 'I was thinking about you!' are so my love language.
We went to watch one of our favorite kiddos play some baseball Friday evening, and it turned out he had an entire fan club in the stands that night! Can you tell these guys work together?? ;) Blue shirts, gray shorts...all day, errrday.
Parker even got the game ball that night! His team spanked their opponent...atta baby!
We went to eat with everyone afterwords, then Cassi & I had to do some last minute prep for our garage sale the next morning. We've been talking about needing to do one for months, and we decided to just DO IT last week. We were feeling a little crazy doing it so last minute, but when it was all said and done, we were glad to have our garages cleaned out. Bonus that we made some bucks on all our junk with no advertisement!
We had lots of good junk, though ;) But her daughter was selling the best stuff at this sale. Homemade chocolate ice cream with mexican vanilla...oh my, heavenly!
Once we were done with our sale, we made a mad dash through the grocery store, went home to round up the troops and get ready, then we were off to the lake for the afternoon/evening. Jaqs LOOVED swimming in the lake despite the fact that it was cold!
I think it's definitely safe to say we'll be spending a lot of time in this lake this year :)
I had a blast, as always, with my girlfriends!
Jaqs had only had 1 nap that day, so she was a little cranky by the end, and don't even get me started on the ordeal that was the life jacket, BUT overall, she had lots of fun! Maybe by the end of the Summer she'll learn to catch a cat-nap on the go ;)
We came home Saturday night and CRASHED. I don't think any of us moved all night!

On Sunday we did our usual house/yard/grocery chores, and Jaqs got a pool for our backyard! Rob set it up during her afternoon nap, and when she spotted it out the back door after she woke up, there was no keeping her in! We just let her swim in her diaper, and she had an absolute blast! We sure have a water baby on our hands, and that makes me so happy because there's nothing I love more than floating in a pool ;) I can still do that right? Daddies do the playing while mommies do the sunning, riiight?!
We cooked out Sunday night and basically spent the whole evening outside...it was perfect. Now if only we would stay around 90 like we have been rather than getting temps up to 105+. Oy, the only downside to TX summers.

Hope your weekend was fun, too! This is our last week of Spring football with a 3-day weekend in sight, so I just don't see anything bad about that!

summer's on its way!

Memorial weekend kind of seems to be the kick-off of summer, and ours was great! We spent the weekend in Abilene just soaking up some family time. Always fun and needed!
How cute is this girl?! Oh how we love her.

She's crazy about her Grammie and G-Pop! I think she had a good time at their house. In fact, we all got a little extra togetherness because my parents' A/C went out Sunday night, (what timing!) so Rob and my dad installed a window unit on the fly in the master bedroom, and all 5 of us slept in there. HA! Family slumber party! I should have taken a picture.
We came home Monday...Jaqs is a little traveling rockstar! She's made the trip to Abilene twice now and has mostly slept the whole way. Bless her! And it's a good thing because we'll be making several more road-trips this summer :)
Sweet Pea was so worn out she fell asleep while having dinner with mommy and daddy!

Baby girl and I are SO ecstatic because today is daddy's last full day of work for the school year! He has half-days the rest of the week, then he's all ours! WOOHOO! After the craziness of track season and Spring football mayhem, we are all ready for some serious quality time. Of course, we'll still have to give him up for summer work-outs and 7 on 7, but we can handle that. We're looking forward to lazy mornings, fun in the sun, a family trip, and simple pleasures like just having dinner together! Oh sweet summertime, you're just what I need!
