getting my act together.

Holy cow! I don't know how this happened, but I took a serious (unintentional) blogging break. You know when you know you need to do something, but then you don't do it, so instead, you just keep putting it off some more? Yeah, that's probably what happened. I've had a couple people (Hi Kai & Stacy!) asking where I've been, so I've decided it's time to catch up!

I don't really know where to start, so I'm just going to start with where I left off!
Mom's birthday weekend in the big T :)
We just had a family weekend at our house to celebrate one of our FAVORITE people!
I got crafty and made a little birthday banner...
We had a delish dinner then opened presents!
She got just about everything she wished for, I'd say ;-)

My SIL made mom the sweetest book to commemorate her first 50 years. It is filled with pictures from past and present and is just so sweet and sentimental.
My mom was so touched, it's something she'll treasure forever!

We topped off the night with a DELICIOUS gluten-free cake made by Nicole's mom!
Jennifer, it was AWESOME! Thank you so much for being so considerate.
FIFTY & FAB was the theme of the weekend! That she is!
On Saturday the boys golfed while the girls lunched, shopped and napped.
It was a GREAT weekend!
Couldn't love my awesome family any more. Y'all rock!!

Back soon...pinky promise.

WILW!

It's that time again...
I'm loving this salmon recipe I made for the first time last night!
So scrumptch.
Side note: I baked it at 400 for about 12 minutes, then I turned the broiler on low and broiled it for about 5 minutes longer to make it kinda crisp.
We like our salmon just about cooked through, and this ended up being a good amount of time.
I'm loving that I finally got our filing cabinet organized! It's a task I put off all summer, but I finally buckled down and got it done this afternoon.
Now to make our filing cabinet cute.
As seen on (where else?) Pinterest.
I'm loving that football season is JUST around the corner. 2-a-days started Monday, so our household schedule is crazy right now!
Wouldn't have it any other way.
Wildcat mornings start bright & early...
And with football season comes the (eventual) promise of fall.
Lattes, talls boots and skinnies, pumpkins, soup for dinner...ahh. Dreamy.
And speaking of that, I'm loving this idea of small-ish pumpkins on candlesticks! So cute.
I'm loving that this is on our dinner menu for Friday night.
Behold, Pioneer Woman's marinated flank steak. If you haven't tried it, you should! It's yummy. Do yourself a flavor (sorry about that cheesiness ;)) and let it marinate the max time. And make the sauce. I've done it before, and I'm still alive. So I think it's okay, and that's saying a lot coming from a germ-a-phobe like myself.
But what am I loving even more than the flank steak?
The people I'm making it for, of course! We're celebrating my mom's birthday this weekend, Temple style. CANNOT WAIT to see my fam!
Looking forward to lots of laughs and fun.
And last but certainly not least, I'm loving that not only did the Lord hear my prayers (of course, He always does!) for a job, He answered them! Hallelujah!
It's a good opportunity with a bright future, so I'm very excited about it! I'm starting today...so from now on, I'll just be a part-time housewife ;-)

Happy hump day!

weekend fun!

We had such a fun weekend, and I have no pictures to prove it. What a shame!
Friday night, Rob and I had a little date night...probably our last Friday night date night until December! 2-a-days started today, so that means we are back in full-swing with football! Even though it's always a bummer to let go of the hubs, we are SO excited for this season! I know it's going to be awesome, and I cannot wait for Friday Night Lights to return!
GO WILDCATS!!!!
Anyway, back to date-night....we just grabbed some dinner, tried to go to a movie but didn't want to wait for 3 hours for it to start, so we ended up back at home watching Shark Week.
Romantic, isn't it? We get wild, y'all.
Here's our poor attempt of a self-portrait...iPhone pics are all I got this weekend.
Around 10 o'clock, we had an EXCITING delivery made to our door-step. The Dunnam's ventured over to Ikea that night, so I asked Cassi to pick up the Mongstad mirror for me. She, of course, delivered. That's right...my birthday wish came early!
This mega-mirror is now residing in our bedroom, and I love it. So happy I got it!
Saturday night was the season kick-off party at the Spradlin's house! We had tons of yummy food and homemade ice-cream. It was so much fun to meet everyone, and I'm already looking forward to the c-wife party this coming Saturday :) Here's last year's recap if you're new to the blog. Roxanne out-does herself with the coaches wives party every year...makes us all feel special, loved, and appreciated! It's something we always look forward to, and while I'll miss all the "Cougar wives" this year, I know we'll form new friendships and just have a blast! Anyway, all this to say...I didn't take any pictures Saturday night because I was too busy talking ;) I'll try to do better next week!

Sunday morning, Rob and I tried a new church. This is our first time to have to find a church home on our own, and it's definitely strange to be away from the church we've grown up in, but it's so important to us to find a place to call home. We're looking forward to visiting several places and discovering the best fit! We know God will lead us in the right direction.

And I took a picture of my church shoes. Because I'm cool. But really, TOMS wedges are SO comfortable! If you're considering getting some, do it! I love how casual they can be.

If you made it to the end of this random, all-over-the-place post, thank you. Really.
Have an awesome Monday!

just a little list...

My 24th birthday is THREE short weeks away, so I figured I'd put together a little ol' wish-list. This may be slightly premature, but it's never too soon to start wishing, right?
In no particular order...

Blue Leopard Tom's...how cute would these be for Wildcat football games?! Presh.

Gift Cards are always appreciated. I feel like I need to start adding dressier clothes to my wardrobe for when I do start working, so any department store would be fab!

Just a little Canon EOS Rebel. No biggie!
I think I'll be waiting a little while longer on this one ;)

Love this Michael Kors iPhone wristlet...it would be so perfect for going out or for a dinner date with my main man!

I've been wanting a dainty gold necklace for awhile now, but I haven't come across the right one. This adorable monogrammed one is pretty darn cute! Wouldn't mind owning it!

NEED this full-length mirror from Ikea to lean against an empty wall in our bedroom.

That's all I've got for now, but I'm sure I can always find more that I 'need' on Pinterest!

WILW!

I haven't linked up for WILW in awhile, so I thought I would today!
Head on over to This Kind of Love if you want to join in on the action.

I'm loving this little quote I came across on Pinterest.
Seems fitting for me right now, especially as it relates to yesterday's post :)
Faith in God certainly doesn't mean that life will be easy, but it does mean that you will always have Him for guidance, direction and love if you seek Him.

I'm loving the fact that Kate Middelton is re-wearing things in her wardrobe. I find it pretty silly that the morning shows and E! are making it such a big deal, but it's refreshing to see someone in the spotlight doing things that a 'regular' person does. Take a hint, Hollywood!
PS-She did reportedly spend $16K on candles recently,
so that may take away from the fact that she's re-wearing clothes....ha!

I'm loving OPI's Mermaid Tears. It's currently on my toes, and I just love it!

I'm loving this funny...also found on Pinterest (of course). Is it not so true?!

I'm loving this little cabinet at Pier One! I have a thing for baskets. It would be perfect for one of guest rooms, but I refuse to pay $400 for pressed wood! Ridiculous!

I'm loving that fall isn't too far way. Or at least I'm hoping it's not...I'm sure it will be October or November before it gets here, but I can hardly wait! These 108 degree days are just putting me in a bad mood! And the fact that the overnight 'lows' are in the mid-80s isn't helping.
Fall...PLEASE HURRY!

I'm loving my sweet, supportive hubby! He's back in full-swing with football, and I'm just so proud of him! He's an awesome coach, does so much for the kids, and really just loves his job. What more could you ask for? Love him.

Hope your Wednesday is fab!
